Crisis Director
Thomas Sydnor
Thomas Sydnor (he/him) is a third-year from McLean, Virginia, studying Computer Science and Mathematics with hopes of attending law school. Despite having less than one year of Model UN experience, Thomas has absolutely fallen in love with MUN and all things related to crisis. He has both co-chaired a committee, “When Walls Don’t Work: The Fall of Constantinople 1453” at MICSUN XII, as well as competed at various conferences across the East Coast in traditional crisis committees. He cannot wait to bring his own crisis committee to life: “Not Today, Satan: World of Wonder Board of Directors, 2030”.
Outside of Model UN, Thomas is a software engineering researcher for a research group on campus, Bonsai, where he develops new research tools for spinal nerve damage analysis. This has allowed him to combine both his love of neuroscience with his passion for tech to help researchers better understand the root causes of spinal paralysis. Additionally, Thomas is president of Kappa Theta Pi, a professional technology fraternity on campus, where he organizes community events, brings in industry speakers, plans workshops, and works with administration to create new tech initiatives on campus. In his free time, he loves to blow his money at the Banh Mi truck on campus, hang out with friends, and attempt to make new kinds of recipes at home—with varying degrees of success!
As the Crisis Director for “Not Today, Satan: World of Wonder Board of Directors, 2030”, Thomas looks forward to all participants of the committee and others coming to Miami. Should you have any questions, reach out to him at txs1171@miami.edu

After years of homophobic rhetoric and anti-drag laws being pushed through state legislatures, the art of drag has begun to die. Many talented queens and aspiring baby queens have thrown in the towel, feeling that there's no place for them in today's society. This has left the drag scene stale and dry. What was once a creative and flourishing industry is now uninspired and dull. The decay of drag has heavily affected World of Wonder, the production company behind RuPaul's Drag Race.
The lack of talent and public support for drag has caused RuPaul's Drag Race to plummet in ratings, leaving viewership at an all-time low. Social media engagement has crashed, and the once-vibrant fan communities have dwindled to a fraction of their former size. Even longtime viewers have abandoned the show, citing predictable challenges and a lack of the boundary-pushing performances that once defined drag excellence. What was once an LGBTQ media empire is now on the brink of bankruptcy. The production company has one last chance to save itself from collapse by making Season 27 the best season yet.
As Delegates, you will sit on the board of directors of World of Wonder, now composed of some of the show's most famous queens. Delegates will need to figure out how to revitalize the art of drag, garner public support, push back against anti-drag legislation, and create the best season of Drag Race yet. It is going to take more than just a pit stop to restart this series' engine, so a creative approach to solving both the current political problems and the company's financial situation will be necessary for success. Ultimately, the fate of Drag Race, and the drag scene as a whole, is in the hands of this committee. Fail, and the show, along with your jobs, will sashay away. Succeed, and you'll win a lot more than $200,000 and a crown. Everything is up to you, Delegates — so good luck, and don't f-it up.
